Celebrate Shakespeare’s Birthday with Cake, Clues, and Community Art!
Get ready for a deliciously fun adventure through the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon! To celebrate William Shakespeare’s birthday, Stratford-upon-Avon BID have teamed up with our talented local community artists from Escape Arts to design 27 unique cakes, each inspired by one of the Bard’s famous plays. Digital trail experts High Street Safari have also turned the trail into an immersive experience via QR codes.
These incredible cake artworks are displayed in shop windows throughout the town centre, waiting for you to discover them!
How Does the Trail Work? It’s Easy!
There’s no app to download and no need to register – simply explore the town centre and look out for the amazing cake displays (or see the map below)!
- Find a Cake: Spot one of the 27 incredible cake artworks in a shop window.
- Spot the Icon: Look closely! Hidden within each cake design is a small icon representing a specific Shakespeare play.
- Scan the Code: Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed with the artwork.
- Solve the Clue: You’ll see a clue hinting at which play the cake represents. Make your guess!
- Reveal & Discover: Confirm the play and unlock fun surprises! Children can meet a character from the play, learn a cool fact about it, and snap a fun selfie using the play’s icon as a digital prop! (Fancy wearing Henry V’s crown, holding Romeo’s rose, or donning a masquerade mask?)
- Visit Them All: Find all 27 cakes – you can visit them in any order you like!
