Environmental, Social, and Governance Policy
Our Commitment to Responsible Practices (ESG)
At High Street Safari, we believe in the power of immersive storytelling not only to entertain but also to foster a connection with our communities and the environment. We are committed to operating responsibly and ethically, integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into our work.
Environmental Stewardship
We strive to minimize our environmental footprint while encouraging appreciation for the natural world:
- Digital First: Our trails rely on digital assets accessed via smartphones, eliminating the need for paper printouts common in other trail types.
- Promoting Active Travel: Our experiences are designed to encourage walking and exploring local areas on foot, reducing reliance on transport.
- Focus on Green Spaces: Whenever possible, we site our trails in parks, countryside locations, and green spaces, connecting people with nature.
- Raising Awareness: Some of our trails have specific environmental themes, like ‘Springtopia’ (focusing on springtime creatures) and our ‘Ocean Safari’ (promoting awareness of marine life and ecology), to educate and inspire players.
- Sustainable Partnerships: We actively seek and prefer to collaborate with partners (like local councils, BIDs, and attractions) who share a commitment to environmental sustainability.
- Low-Impact Operations: We minimize our direct operational footprint through practices like remote working (eliminating commutes), using green energy suppliers for our work, and prioritizing video conferencing over travel wherever feasible.
Social Responsibility
Connecting communities, ensuring accessibility, and providing a safe, positive experience is core to our mission:
- Community Support: We actively encourage trail hosts to use High Street Safari experiences as a fun way to fundraise for local charities. We often partner with local community groups and schools to boost participation and awareness.
- Accessibility Commitment: We believe our experiences should be open to everyone. We strive to design physically accessible trail routes wherever possible and provide information to help users assess suitability. We also aim for our web application to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards to ensure a positive online experience for all users.
- Community Feedback Loop: We value feedback to constantly improve. We gather insights through automatic Trustpilot review requests after trail completion, our website contact form, social media interactions, and by sending reports to stakeholders post-event for their review and comments.
- Content Standards & Appropriateness: We are committed to ensuring all trail content is age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and respectful. Our content undergoes a review process, and where trails utilize specific locations, we consult various local stakeholders for feedback to ensure relevance and appropriateness.
- Data Privacy & Safety: Protecting user privacy is paramount. Our system is designed for anonymity: no personal data is required to play, and we do not track users’ phones beyond immediate gameplay needs. (See Governance for more on data security).
- Workplace Commitment (Our Team): As a small team, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and have equal opportunities. We believe diverse perspectives enhance our creativity and ability to serve our communities.
Governance & Ethics
We believe strong values and transparent operations build trust:
- Core Values: Our guiding principle is to “craft immersive storytelling experiences that inspire people to build a more equitable world.”
- Governance Structure: We operate as a small, collaborative team. Decisions are made together, ensuring all members can air their thoughts, pursue independent opportunities, and engage in creative problem-solving.
- Stakeholder Engagement: We actively engage with our key stakeholders. This includes hosting group meetings with clients and community representatives to review materials and plan trails, alongside analysing user feedback from various channels (as mentioned under Social Responsibility) to inform our development.
- Data Security & Transparency: We take data handling seriously. All usage data is hosted on secure servers and is never shared beyond our own infrastructure. We use cookies solely on the user’s device to track engagement with the trail experience. We provide anonymized, aggregated data reports (including footfall, interaction rates, popular times/locations) to our stakeholders (like hosts) to demonstrate impact and help inform future activities, ensuring transparency in how this general data is used.
- Ethical Conduct: High Street Safari operates with integrity and is committed to high ethical standards in all our interactions. We strive for transparency, accountability, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the UK.
- Commitment to Continuous Improvement: We view ESG as an ongoing journey. We are dedicated to regularly reviewing our practices across environmental, social, and governance areas and seeking ways to improve as our company grows and evolves.
