Go on a Ghostly Safari This Halloween!
Boo! Some of Ireland’s cheekiest spirits have hidden their favourite things all around town, and they need your help to find them! Get ready for a spook-tacular AR adventure to track down their lost treasures and say a friendly hello!
The Routes: Our spooky safari has two fantastic trails! Tiptoe down The Gloomwood Path to spot the tricky Púca playing hide-and-seek. Then, splash along The Twilight Coast to wave at the mysterious Selkie and a shy Trainee Banshee. You can complete one trail for a quick fright, or do both for a monster amount of fun!
Your Spooky To-Do List:
Find 10 awesome artifacts, like a Leprechaun’s shiny coin and ghostly hoofprints!
Scan the special QR codes to make magical Irish spirits pop up right before your eyes!
Say cheese! Snap some funny “boo-selfies” with your new supernatural friends.
Become a “Master of Myths” and collect your awesome spooky prize at the end!
HOW TO PLAY
Welcome, brave ghost hunter! Ancient Irish spirits are waking up all over town, and it’s your job to find them by discovering their lost artifacts.
There are five spooky stops on The Gloomwood Path and five more on The Twilight Coast. You can see where all 10 artifacts are hiding on your local map (just choose your location from the menu at the top of this page).
To start your spook-tacular adventure, simply:
🗺️ Find the Artifacts: Use the map to hunt for the 10 mysterious artifacts hidden in windows. You can visit them in any order you like!
📱 Scan the Code: When you find an artifact, use your phone’s camera to scan its QR code. This will magically add the spirit to your collection.
👻 Awaken the Spirit: Tap the button to see your new ghostly pal appear in the real world with augmented reality! (For the best magic, please use Safari on an iPhone or Chrome on an Android phone).
🏆 Claim Your Prize: Once you’ve collected all the spirits on the trail, you’ll earn the title “Master of Myths” and can download your awesome spooky prize!
IMPORTANT (A note for the grown-ups!): To make sure you successfully collect all the spirits, please use the SAME phone and web browser (e.g., Chrome) for the whole trail. Browser cookies must be enabled, so please don’t clear your browsing history until your adventure is complete.
Test the Augmented Reality on your Device
Before setting off on the trail we advise you to try out the AR functionality of your phone. Most modern smartphones do have this capability now but there are some that still don’t support it. If you don’t see a ‘see me in AR’ button on the next page then it’s likely your phone doesn’t support AR yet and you’ll need to use an alternative device for this element of the trail.
